Week 42: Slow Cookin' Sundays!

About a month ago, John and I bought a crockpot to see what fun things we could cook up. It's mostly become a Sunday/football meal activity, and so far we've had some decent success. Our first recipe was Paula Deen's "Taco Soup," aka chili, which was delicious. We've also made a mac & cheese, which was tasty but perhaps not exactly a recipe that shines or is enhanced by slow cooking. This week's recipe, however, was perhaps our best yet: Pulled Pork. I googled a few recipes until I found a really simple one that only involved meat, root beer and BBQ sauce. I was intrigued by the simplicity (plus, I'm easily intimidated by complicated recipes) and the reviews were glowing, so we went for it and were very pleased with the results. I'd highly recommend it to anyone! Stay tuned for future episodes of Crockpot Cooking with Pouy & John (sous chef).

Yup, please send pulled pork recipe. And why only use the crock-pot on Sundays? Isn't the best part that you don't have to do anything so it's ready when you get home from work?

@maitai: we still have plenty of leftovers! 4 pounds was wayyy too much :D

@gretchen: yeah, i realize that's the reason it was invented, or why it's awesome, but there's no way i'm going to wake up any earlier than i already do to get all the ingredients going... maybe some day ;) also, the recipe was linked in the post: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Slow-Cooker-Pulled-Pork/Detail.aspx
(i used pork shoulder instead of tenderloin - highly recommended)

we just got a crock pot too!! we love it. funny post- because we've been using our crockpot most sundays too! and we've made similar things. we made pork carnitas- slow cooked the pork in the crock pot and then fried it, then put on corn tortillas with pineapple salsa that we made. delicious. we've also done a taco soup and also a whole chicken (you can buy a 4 pound broiler chicken at the store). it was really easy. also lamb lentil soup.
